I always thought the birds in my backyard are so stupid. Walking, when they can fly!
One morning, I decided to have my morning chai with them. The weather was cold, it was breezier than usual and the sun was a pleasant 11 am warm. It was a Saturday, and I was in no rush.
I brought some cookies with my chai, and took my sweet time eating and sipping. The activity that usually takes me 2 minutes, lasted for 30 minutes.
Such foolish behavior, taking 30 minutes for something that usually takes 2 minutes. I could've gotten so much done in those 28 minutes.
Numerous reels that remained unscrolled,
Cupboards and chairs that stayed messy,
Dirty laundry that remained unclean,
Government policies that remained uncriticized,
Conversations that didn't turn into arguments,
So much unfairness in the world that I just, missed,
So many more breaths that I could've taken in those 28 minutes if I had just hurried,
All mocked me collectively, called me stupid as I sipped chai and ate cookies — for 30 minutes.
The birds in my backyard, so stupid, walking, when they can fly.
I need a backyard too — I thought, when I sipped the last of my chai.
I sat there for 30 more minutes. Just me and the walking birds, hungry squirrels, half flowers and lazy leaves, not living up to our potential.
